I: Good afternoon, I’d like to change 500 dollars to Japanese Yen
please.

T: Okay. That comes to 51,000 yen.

I: 51,000. Wow. What’s the exchange rate at the moment?

T: 1 Canadian dollar is worth 102 Japanese yen.

I: I didn’t realize the dollar had gotten so strong. The last time I
went to Japan I think the dollar was worth only 80 yen.

T: Over the last few months the dollar has climbed steadily against
the yen. It overtook it sometime around February.

I: That’s good for me I guess. By the way, can I get 20,000 of it in
5,000 yen bills?

T: No problem, sir.

そのまま使える便利なフレーズを覚えましょう。

（51,000円になります。）
"come to 〜"は「（合計金額などが）〜なる」という意味。買い物を
した場合など、レジで店員がよく使う言い方。他には、「〜に達する、
結果として〜になる、結局〜に終わる、意識が戻る、思い出す」など
様々な意味がある。
　　Ex: Your order comes to 3150 yen with tax.
　（ご注文額は、税込み3150円になります。）

I didn't realize the dollar had gotten so strong.

（ドルがこんなに強くなったなんて気づきませんでしたよ。）
"realize"は「気が付く、実感する、つくづく思う、悟る、自覚する」
という意味。他にも「気づく」という意味で "notice", "recognize"
"be aware"があるが、状況によって使い分ける必要がある。"notice"
は「視覚・聴覚などの五感、または心の動きによって気づくこと」。
"recognize"は「事柄の意味や重要性を理解・認識し、実感すること」。
"be aware"は「視覚・聴覚などの五感、または心の動きによって
気づいている状態を表す」。
Ex: I didn't realize my error.
（私は、自分の過ちに気づいていなかった。）

"Can I get〜?"は、何かを依頼する場合、勧める場合など色々な状況で
使える言い方。"Can I get you a drink?"「飲み物はいかがですか？」
"Can I get a receipt?"「レシートを下さい。」、"Can I get a
discount on this?"「値引きして下さい。」、"Can I get a shot?"
　「写真を一枚撮っても良いですか？」など、様々な言い方に使える。
Ex: Can I get this stake done rare?
