Anderson: Thank you for contacting me, Mrs. Seymour. My wife and I have been a little concerned about Sandra as well. She’s always been such a good student, so I must admit, I was shocked to see how bad her marks have been lately.
Seymour: Yes, Sandra has excelled until now, so it was a surprise to see her grades take such a rapid fall. I had a chat to her yesterday though, and it seems to me she is very tired. She’s captain of the school basketball team, and I believe she is also learning the clarinet and piano after school?
Anderson: That’s right. My wife is a pianist and has great hopes for Sandy.
Seymour: But she also learns ballet and swimming as well, doesn’t she?
Anderson: That’s right. We want her to be as active as possible.
Sandra: I see. And she tells me that she’s just started a part-time job delivering newspapers.
Anderson: Yes. We think it’s important for her to learn responsibility from a young age.
Seymour: Well, it seems to me that with all these extra-curricular activities that Sandra is spreading herself too thin. It may be a good idea to cut back on something and give her time to study.

"fall"は、「落ちる」という意味の名詞で、"take a fall"で「悪くなる、下がる」。"fall"の前に"rapid"（急に）という形容詞がついているので、「急に下がる」となります。

「サンドラはあまりにも手を広げすぎている感じがします」
"spread oneself too thin"で、「あらゆることに手を出しすぎる」という意味の決まり表現です。「自分自身をあまりに薄く広げさせる」という直訳から意味は推測できますね。
ex: I'm spreading myself too thin and I find myself sometimes asking whether this is all worth it in the end.
