Rick: Hello Juliet, it’s nice to meet you. Will has told me a lot about you.

Juliet: It’s nice to meet you too Rick. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet me.

Rick: It’s my pleasure. I’ve taken a look at your resume and it looks very impressive. Please, tell me about yourself.

Juliet: Well, I’ve always loved art and writing, and I made the most of these skills from a young age. I was the editor of my intermediate and high school newspapers, and enjoyed the creative outlet that offered me. I also like meeting and talking to people, so I volunteered at a retirement home when I was a high school student .I really enjoyed talking to the people there and hearing all of their stories. I studied media and advertising at university and after graduating, I was employed by Willis Spencer and worked in their public relations department for eight years. I loved the creative opportunities that job offered me, and was a dedicated, hard-working employee. I also lead a busy life outside of work. I have a black belt in karate and work as a volunteer teaching art to kids with Down’s syndrome on weekends.

Rick: Really? And what kind of position are you looking for?

Juliet: I’ve worked in public relations up until now, and I think I am suited to that area of advertising. I love to meet and talk with people, and I can also utilise my writing and artistic skills, so it’s the perfect job as far as I’m concerned. I’ve had the privilege of working with some very talented people over the years, and have learned a lot from the experience, so I believe I have a lot to offer.

Rick: What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Juliet: My weakness is that I don’t like to submit anything less than perfect, so I can be very particular about small details. However, in my last job, my workmates and I utilised this to our advantage, and I would perform the meticulous final checks on all the work we submitted to clients. My greatest strength is that I am dedicated and easy to work with. I often go the extra mile in order to ensure the success of a project, and enjoyed a laid-back yet highly creative relationship with my co-workers.

Rick: Well, you sound like just the person we’ve been looking for, Juliet.

Explanations

I was the editor of my intermediate and high school newspapers, and enjoyed the creative outlet that offered me.

ex. My youngest child started intermediate last year.
He needs an outlet for all his pent up energy.

I also lead a busy life outside of work.

“busy”の代わりに、boring(つまらない)、charmed(不死身の)、checkered(色とりどりの)、corrupt(堕落した)という言葉も使える。
ex. Old Mrs McGregor led a decent life.
