Juliet: Will! Guess what! I got the job! I’m going to be working at Gershon Hope!

Will: Congratulations Jools! I knew you’d get it. Rick has been raving about you ever since you came in for the interview.

Juliet: I’m so happy! Will, thank you! I owe you for this. If you hadn’t put a good word in with Rick, I probably wouldn’t have this job now.

Will: This has nothing to do with me. You got this job on your own merits.

Juliet: But thanks to you, I got my foot in the door before everyone else did. I’m so happy!

Will: So, when do you start?

Juliet: Next week. Apparently there’s an in-house training course and Rick thinks it’d be a good idea if I was there.

Will: Oh great, I’ll be there too. I’ll be able to show you the ropes.

Juliet: That’d be awesome! I’m really looking forward to getting back to work again. And Gershon Hope looks like a really great place to work.

Will: Believe me, it’s the best! The people there are amazing and they have some really high powered clients. And most importantly, there’s nothing shonky going on. It blows Willis Spencer out of the water!

Juliet: It’ll be great just to be able to concentrate on work again, instead of worrying about how long the company is going to stay solvent.

Will: You get a lot more done that way, believe me. Well, I think this calls for a celebration. Wanna go get a drink?

Juliet: That sounds great!

To be continued.

Explanations

I owe you

ex. Thanks for the tip. I owe you.

This has nothing to do with me.

「have nothing to do with~」で〜とは関係が無いという意味。
ex. You passing the test had nothing to do with my teaching.

I got my foot in the door before everyone else did.

ex. It's very difficult for an actor to get his foot in the door in Hollywood.

I’ll be able to show you the ropes.

And most importantly, there’s nothing shonky going on.

ex. Keep away from that car dealer. He's really shonky.

It blows Willis Spencer out of the water!

「blow 〜 out of the water」で「〜を痛い目にあわす、〜を打ち負かす」という意味になる。
ex. We blew our opponents out of the water!

You get a lot more done that way, believe me.

「get more done that way」で、そのやり方のほうがずっとはかどるという意味になる。
ex. You'll get more done if you stop talking.
ex. If I had the money, believe me, I'd go in a flash.
