Nick is asking Sophie about her plans to buy a house.
Nick: How’s the saving going, Sophie? Do you have enough money for a deposit on a house yet?
Sophie: Well, I have $15,000 saved, which I thought would be enough, but the property market here has just sky-rocketed in the last couple of months, and everything is just out of my range.
Nick: Yeah, there seems to be a real housing shortage at the moment. Joe and Linda put their house on the market a couple of weeks ago and it was snapped up in just three days!
Sophie: The prices are ridiculous. People are paying way more than the properties are actually worth.
Nick: It might be wise to sit tight for now.
Sophie: I was thinking the same thing. Prices can’t continue to go up like this. I think I’ll just wait for the bottom to fall out of the market.

"snap up"は、「すぐに買う、先を争って買う」という意味。ずっと欲しかったから、あるいはバーゲンだからというニュアンスが含まれます。
ex: t．A．T．u adds another concert as tickets are snapped up.

「いまは様子を見といたほうが良いよ」
ピンと張った（tight）状態で座る（sit）ということで、"sit tight"は「じっとしている、踏みとどまる」という意味。単に「ちゃんと座る」という意味もあります。

「買われなくなるまで待とうかな」
新聞や雑誌でよく使われる表現、"the bottom has fallen out of market"は「人気がなくなる、誰も買わなくなる」という意味。経済に関するトピックでよくでてくる表現で、「株価が大暴落、底をつく」という意味になります。
