Justin: Well, that’s the last of the decorations done. That took a lot longer than I thought it would.
Marina: I’m glad Stacey and Phil decided to have the reception here at the beach house. It’s made organising things so much easier.
Justin: And cheaper. Well, why don’t we call it a night? I’m pooped!
Marina: Me too. And we have to get an early start tomorrow to see to the flowers at the church and contact the caterers.
Justin: You’re right. Maybe we should hit the hay now.
Marina: That sounds like a good idea. I need a good nights sleep after the week we’ve had. And it’s going to be a long, long day tomorrow.
Justin: Tell me about it. We need all the rest we can get!

ex: I was pooped after climbing Mount Fuji.

"hit the hay"は「干草に（体を）当てる」という語源から「寝る、床に就く」という意味。"hit"を使う他のフレーズとして、"hit the big time"（有名になる）、"hit the bottle"（アルコールを飲む）、"hit the roof"（激怒する）などがあります。
ex: We chatted, drank some wine, and then hit the hay.
