Caroline is talking to her friend Mick about their holiday.
Caroline: Hi, Mick? It’s Caroline.
Mick: Caroline! You got back safe and sound?
Caroline: Yeah. How about you? Feeling any better?
Mick: Not really. I’m still getting used to being in a wheelchair. It’s so hard to move around.
Caroline: I can’t believe you managed to break BOTH legs! But we did tell you not to ski so close to the trees.
Mick: Yeah, yeah. Oh well, the plaster will come off in a couple of weeks and then I should be able to move around on crutches. Anyway, how did the rest of your holiday go?
Caroline: Well, you didn’t miss much. Sally’s suitcase got lost on the way back. They still haven’t managed to locate it yet. Ted caught some mystery bug and was throwing up for the last two days of the trip. Thankfully he was well enough for the drive home.
Mick: It sounds like this trip was one disaster after another, wasn’t it?
Caroline: Yeah. I hope we have an uneventful holiday next year!

「無事に帰ってきたか？」
"safe"も"sound"もともに「安全な」という意味で、"safe and sound"とセットになってよく使われます。危険な状況から無傷で逃れることができる、というニュアンスがあります。
ex: School nurses help keep students safe and sound.
（学校の保健の先生は、生徒たちが無事安全となる手助けをする）
I'm still getting used to being in a wheelchair.
「車椅子になかなか慣れなくてね」
"get used to〜"は、「〜に慣れる」という意味ですが、現在進行形になると「慣れるようになる途中→まだ慣れていない」となります。
ex: I am still getting used to the whole public-speaking thing.

I can't believe you managed to break BOTH legs!
「両足を折っちゃうなんて信じられないわよ！」
ふつう"manage to"は「なんとか〜する、うまく〜する」という意味ですが、ここでは両足を骨折するという離れ業を演じたミックに対し、キャロリンは皮肉を込めてこの表現を使っています。

「なんだか、今回の旅行は災難続きだったようだな？」
"one disaster after another"は、「ひとつの災難のあとに、また別の災難」ということで、日本語で言えば「一難去ってまた一難」となります。"one after another"は「次々に」という意味で、この形をいろいろ応用し、"one mistake after another"、"one problem after another"などの表現が作れます。
ex: The life of Mike was filled with one disaster after another.

Mick: なんだか、今回の旅行は災難続きだったようだな?
Caroline: うん。来年は何事もない休暇を過ごしたいわ!
