Hank: So, how was Michaela and Jim’s wedding? Did you have a good time?
Georgia: Oh my God, it was such a spectacle! You’ll never believe what happened!
Hank: What?!
Georgia: Michaela’s younger sister Nicolette got really drunk before the ceremony, and halfway through Jim’s speech at the reception, she stood up and started yelling at Michaela“You always thought you were better than me! I hate you!”.
Hank: You’re joking!
Georgia: I’m serious! She made such a fool of herself. We were all shocked into silence, then she grabbed her stuff and staggered out of the room, knocking over the wedding cake on the way out!
Hank: What a disaster! But I always thought those two got on so well. What happened?
Georgia: We’re not really sure, but we think maybe she was angry because Michaela didn’t ask her to be a bridesmaid.
Hank: Oh boy, there’s nothing more scary than a woman scorned.

"spectacle"は「異様な光景、印象的なイベント」という意味。形容詞"spectacular"（壮観な）も覚えておきましょう。

"make a fool of oneself"は、「（周りから見て）バカだと思われるような行動をとる」という意味。"make a fool of someone(him, her etc...)"だと「〜をバカにする」となります。
ex: I made a fool of myself and became the joke of the day.

"get on well with"で「〜とうまくやる」。"We're getting on fine"のように、"get on"単独でも使われます。

"scorn"は「侮辱する（動詞）、侮辱（名詞）」という意味。ここでは、「侮辱された女」、文脈から「恨みを持った女」という意味になります。"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."（捨てられた女の怒りは地獄にもない）という諺も余裕があれば覚えておきましょう。

Georgia: よく分からないケド、ニコレットが怒ったのは、ミカエラが花嫁の付き添いを頼まなかったからかもしれない。
Hank: やれやれ、女の恨みほど恐ろしいものはないね。
