D: Hey Mandy, do you see that guy over there in the tan trench coat?
M: Yeah. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
D: If you mean that there’s something suspicious about him, then yes.
I’ve been watching him for the last half an hour, and he’s been
hanging around that bus stop the whole time.
M: I don’t think he’s waiting for the bus either. I wonder if he’s
the pickpocket that the police warned us about the other day?
D: That’s exactly what I was thinking. Maybe we should call the police.
M: That’s a good idea. Even if it turns out he’s innocent, it’s
better to be safe than sorry.
D: I’ll go and give them a call now. You keep an eye on him, OK?
M: Don’t worry, I won’t take my eyes off him.

「ずっとあのバス停の周りをウロウロしているんだよ。」
“hang around " で「〜をうろつく、〜につきまとう」という意味のイディオム。他に、「悪天候、病気が長引く」、hang around with someoneで「人と長い時間をすごす」、「待つ、中断する」という意味にもなる。
Ex. We've got an hour to kill, so why don't we hang around in the mall?
（私たちは、1時間もつぶさないといけないから、モールでブラブラしようか）
I wonder if he's the pickpocket that the police warned us about the other day?
「もしかしたら、彼はこの前、警察が私達に警告していたスリじゃない？」
“I wonder if (whether)" で、「私は…かなと思う」という意味になる。また、"I wonder if I could〜" で「〜してもよろしいですか？」と丁寧な尋ね方にもなる。
Ex. I wonder if the concert has been sold out yet?

「彼を見張っているんだよ、いい？」
“keep an eye on 〜" で「（危険なことをしないように）〜を見守る、〜目を離さない」という意味のイディオム。
Ex. Can you keep an eye on the kids for me while I go to the supermarket?
（スーパーに行っている間に、子供達を見てくれる？）

「心配しないで、目を離したりしないから。」
先ほどの “keep an eye on 〜" のほぼ反対の意味で、"take one's eyes off 〜" で「〜から目を離す、そらす」という意味になる。従って、
"not take one's eye's off"は、"keep an eye on"と同じ意味となる。
Ex. He took his eyes off the ball and it hit him in the face.
（彼は、ボールから目を離したら、顔面に当たった）
