Olivia and Michael are worried about their friend Kate, who has not been looking well.
O: Michael, I’m a little worried about Kate. She’s been looking
terrible lately.
M: You noticed it too? To be honest I was shocked when I saw her at
the luncheon today. I hadn’t seen her for three weeks, and I was
really struck by how thin she was.
O: Yeah, she’s been looking really pale and gaunt lately. And she
complained to me that she’s been feeling out of sorts for the
last couple of weeks.
M: Obviously something isn’t right. Has she been to see a doctor?
O: She says she’s been too busy, but I think she did make an
appointment to see her physician tomorrow.
M: Good. With that tough work schedule of hers, chances are its just
exhaustion, but its best to get it checked out just in case.
O: Let’s hope its nothing too serious.

To be honest I was shocked when I saw her at the luncheon today.
「今日のランチで彼女を見た時、正直びっくりした。」
"to be honest" で、「正直に言って、正直なところ」という意味のイディオム。
Ex. To be honest, I didn't really want to go anyway.
（正直に言って、あまり行きたくなかったし。
.... and I was really struck by how thin she was.
「あんなに痩せちゃって、本当に驚いちゃった。」
"(be) struck by" は、ここでは、「驚く、衝撃を受ける」という意味。その他、心理面では「感銘を受ける、強い印象を受ける、実感する、」などの意味になる。
また、出来事として、"(be) struck by a disease" 「病気にかかる」、
"(be) struck by a typoon"「台風に襲われる」、"(be) struck by a pitch"「デットボールを食らう」などもよく使われる表現。
Ex. He was struck by her beauty.
（彼は、彼女の美しさに感銘を受けた。）
And she complained to me that she's been feeling out of sorts for the last couple of weeks.
「それに彼女、ここ2、3週間体調がすぐれないって言ってたし。」
"feel out of sorts" は、「体調がすぐれない」という意味のイディオム。
また、"out of sorts"だけでも、「気分がすぐれない、元気がない、憂鬱で、不機嫌な」という意味になる。
Ex. Dad has been out of sorts ever since the operation.
（父は、手術を受けた以来、体調が良くないの。）
...., but its best to get it checked out just in case.
「念のために調べてもらった方が絶対にいいよね。」
"check out" には色々な使い方があるが、ここでは、「〜を調べる、〜を確かめる」という意味になる。
その他よく使われる表現は、「（支払い後）ホテル、店、病院などを出る、手続き後（物）を借り出す・貸し出す、興味を持ってじろじろ見る」などです。
Ex. Make sure you check out your facts before you write the article.
（記事を書く前に、必ず事実を調べなさい。）

かもしれないけど、念のために調べてもらった方が絶対にいいよね。
O: あまり深刻じゃないことを願うわ。
