Oh Dad, I knew you'd hit the roof, but you've got to understand.

「ねぇお父さん、頭にきてると思うけど、理解してくれなきゃ。」
“hit the roof" は、ここでは「頭にくる、ひどく腹をたてる」という
意味のイディオム。
その他、「物価・価格などが急に最高限度まで上がる」という状況でも
使う。“go through the ceiling" で表現される場合もあるので、あわ
せて覚えておきましょう。
Ex. He hit the roof when he saw that his new car had been scratched.
（彼は、新車に傷がついたのを見て、頭にきた。）

And there's no way in the world I'm going to let you go and live with some unemployed bum who doesn't have the motivation to go out and find a job.

「それからあの仕事をさがそうともしない無職の怠け者と住むことは絶対に許さない。」
“no way" は、「決して〜でない」という強い否定で、会話の中でも
「まさか！だめよ！そんなばかな！」という表現でよく使われる。“in
the world" は、そのまま「世界中で」という意味になるが、疑問では
「一体全体」、否定では「絶対に、断じて」という表現をする。
Ex. There's no way I'm going to pay for this shoddy work!
（こんな雑な仕事にお金を払うなんて、バカな話だ！）

If the guy had bothered to finish high school and get some qualifications he wouldn't have this problem.

「高校をきちんと卒業していて、何か資格でもあれば、こんなことにはならないんだ。」
“bother to do" は、「わざわざ〜する、面倒くさい、おっくうだ」と
いう意味のイディオム。"not bother to do" のように否定が前につく
と、「面倒で〜しようとしない、わざわざ〜しない」という意味になる。
その他、“Is this bothering you?" 「ご迷惑でしょうか？」、
“Don't bother." 「どうぞお構いなく。」、“I'm sorry to bother
you." 「お邪魔してすみません。」などはいろいろなシーンで使うこと
ができるので、覚えておくと便利でしょう。
Ex. I can't be bothered doing the cleaning.
（掃除するのは面倒くさいなぁ。）
