M: Marshall
C: Carnie
M: Hey Carnie! Did you and Dean have a good time the other night?
C: No…Yes… I don’t know.
M: You don’t know? Didn’t the two of you get along?
C: Yeah, we did. He’s a really funny guy and he was great to talk
to but…
M: What? What did he do?
C: Well, we went to a movie after dinner, and I went in and bought
the tickets while he was parking the car.
M: And?
C: Well, he didn’t pay me back for the ticket. He just took it,
said thank you and went in!
M: What?!
C: And that’s not all. He went off to the refreshment counter to
get some popcorn and a drink, and came back with food for himself
but nothing for me! I mean, he could have asked me if I wanted
anything before he went, right? Especially seeing I’d just
bought his ticket!
M: That is a bit rude.
C: I’m sorry to have to say it Marshall, but your friend is the
biggest cheapskate I’ve ever met!

"get along"は「（人と）仲良くやっていく、うまが合う」という
意味。他の言い方では、"get on", "go together", "hit off",
"have chemistry"などがある。

He went off to the refreshment counter to get some popcorn and a drink,
（彼は売店に、ポップコーンと飲み物を買いに立ち去って、）
"go off"は様々な意味があるが、「（突然）去る、立ち去る」
という意味。他には、「駆け落ちする、持ち逃げする、嫌いになる、
（食品が）腐る、停止する、出掛ける、死ぬ、突然鳴り出す、爆発する」
など沢山の意味がある。

"cheapskate"は「けちん坊、しみったれ」という意味。他には、
"penny-pincher", "miser", "cheapie", "economic
royalist", “nickel nurser"などの言い方もある。
Ex: Ashton is such a cheapskate! Whenever we go on a date,
he never buys me dinner!
（アシュトンは、すっごいケチよ！デートに行っても、絶対夕食を
おごってくれないの！）
