Two elderly friends, Bert and Muriel, discuss new technology.

B: And how are your grandchildren these days?

M: They’re doing fine. Ooh, I got the shock of my life though the
other day.

B: How’s that?

M: Well, Mary and Tom came around with the kids. We were sitting
down to a cuppa, and then suddenly this music started blaring from
nowhere! The next thing I know, one of the kids says, “Oh,
that’s for me,” and pulls out one of those mini phones from his
pocket.

B: Ah, a mobile phone. You know, I can’t keep up with these new
gadgets and things.

M: Young people now, they carry all kinds of things around in their
pockets and bags. Too many distractions if you ask me.

B: I hear you. My son tried to set up a computer in my house, he
said making phone calls on it is much cheaper. I told him I
wouldn’t have a clue how to use it.

M: Well, they’ve done away with a lot of the old conveniences now.
You know, I can’t find a coin-operated pay phone anywhere anymore.

B: I know! They have these complicated card systems now.

M: I don’t know. It’s all Greek to me!

It's all Greek to me!

(私にはチンプンカンプンですよ。)
