L: I can’t believe it’s spring and we’re having all this terrible
weather! It still feels like winter!
A: Yeah. I forgot my umbrella yesterday, and I got caught in the
rain on my way home. I was drenched.
L: Well, summer’s just around the corner.
A: You got any plans over the summer break?
L: Well, I’ll probably head up north to see my relatives. They have
a house lake-side and it’s away from all the hustle and bustle
of the city.
A: Sounds wonderful.
L: If you don’t have any plans, you should come up.
A: Thanks for the offer. I think I’m gonna curl up on the couch
and watch DVDs!
L: That’s not much of a plan!
A: I don’t want to go out in that summer heat! I’d rather stay
inside with the air conditioner on.
L: Speaking of which, it’s a bit cold in here. You mind if I turn up
the heat?
A: Be my guest.

Well, summer's just around the corner.
（まあ、夏はすぐそこまできてるよ。）
"just around the corner"は「目と鼻の先、直ぐそこの角」という意味
で、ここでは「もう間もなく、間近、もうすぐ」という意味として使われ
ている。他には、"at hand","approaching","just a little
longer and","nearly"などの言い方もある。
Ex: The summer sales are just around the corner.
（夏のバーゲンセールはもうすぐだ。）
Well, I'll probably head up north to see my relatives.
（ああ、多分親戚に会いに北へ行くよ。）
"head up"はここでは「行く、進む」という意味。北に行くときは、
"head up north"を使うが、南に向かう時は"head down south"と
いう風に区別をつける。方向関係なく言いたい時は、"head over"、
"head off"、"head"、どこかに戻るときは、"head back"を使う。
"rellies"は、"relative, relations"の略で、「親戚」という
意味。イギリス、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドでよく使われる
スラング。
Ex: Where are you heading to?

Speaking of which, it's a bit cold in here.
（そういえば、ここはちょっと寒いね。）
"Speaking of which"は「そういえば」という意味。"Speaking of 〜"
「〜について言えば、〜と言えば、〜の話と言えば」という意味。また、
"Speaking as 〜"「〜の立場から言えば」、"Speaking of myself"
「私の考えでは」という意味になる。
Ex: Speaking of summer, I can't wait to go to the beach.
（夏と言えば、海に行きたくてたまらないな。）
Be my guest.
（良いわよ。）
"Be my guest"は「どうぞご自由に（お使い下さい）、お好きなように、
いいですとも、ご遠慮なくどうぞ」という意味。お客様に対して使う場合
には「どうぞお召し上がり下さい、ご遠慮なくお使い下さい」という意味
になる。
Ex: "Can I have some more tea?" "Be my guest."
「お茶をもう少し頂いてもいいですか？」「いいですとも。」

L: ああ、多分親戚に会いに北へ行くよ。彼らは、レイクサイドに家を
持っていて、都会の慌しさから離れているんだ。
A: 良いわね。
L: もし、何も予定がないなら、君も来るべきだよ。
A: 誘ってくれてありがとう。私は、ソファーに横になって、DVDを見ると
思うわ!
L: そんなの大した予定じゃないだろ!
A: そんな夏の暑さの中で、出掛けたくないの!クーラーのきいた部屋の中に
いる方が良いわ。
L: そういえば、ここはちょっと寒いね。 温度を上げてもいいかな?
A: 良いわよ。
