Dialog

Dave is at home, having just finished his breakfast. He talks to his wife, Claire.

Dave: Honey, do you think you can come out for lunch today?

Claire: Um…let me see…yeah, it looks like it’s going to be a slow day, today…sure. Why, do you want to have a lunch date? What’s up?

Dave: My highschool friend is here for a week, and we’re going to have lunch together, probably at the Japanese place near your office. I thought perhaps you want to come, too.

Claire: Yeah, why not? You’d better make a reservation, though. That place is pretty crowded during lunchtime. By the way, your friend…is it anybody I know?

Dave: I don’t think so. You remember the guy I was talking about the other day…the one who works for the government?

Claire: Yeah…what was the name… Andy?

D: Yeah, Andy. You have a good memory, honey. He’s a real nice guy. I’m sure you’ll like him.

Claire: OK, darling. Why don’t you give me a call when you get near the restaurant? Oh, and is Andy easy on the eye?

Explanations

It looks like it's going to be a slow day, today.

I thought perhaps you want to come, too.

Ex) Perhaps you should go home.

Why not?

Why not?

the one who works for the government

You have a good memory.

Is Andy easy on the eye?

easy on the eye(s) Is Andy handsome/good-looking? easy on the eyeは物にも使えます。
Ex) Her paintings are easy on the eye/eyes.
