Jim: You wanted to see me, sir?

Mr.Trano: Jim, yes, come in. Have a seat, please. Those were some great calls you made on Helix and Sparks. You really seemed to have turned yourself around.

Jim: Yes, well, Mr. Trano, I was working very hard and I was watching the markets very carefully. It just seemed like the right time to buy. I was quite lucky, I think, in both cases.

Mr.Trano: Right. That’s good and all, but I am a little concerned with the nature of the transactions. In both cases, your trades coincided with some very big deals. In fact, the trade records show that you were onto Sparks even before Panasonic made its announcement.

Jim: Sir, if you are implying that I…

Mr.Trano: Jim, it just looks a little too good to be true. I mean, you were deep in the hole, just, prior to these two trades. If there is anything you want to tell me now.

Jim: Mr. Trano, I assure you I just got lucky. That’s all. I’ve got to go. I have a meeting to prepare for.

(Jim leaves)

M: Stacy, will you get me the Department of Securities Fraud, please.

In this dialogue Mr. Trano confronts Jim on the issue of whether he used inside information or not. Since Tina's coming to see him, Mr. Trano has done some investigating and has found some more evidence against Jim -- for example, he mentions the trade records. However, Jim still maintains that he got lucky and will not admit that he committed security fraud. Again you will notice that the language used here is different from some of the earlier dialogues. Especially considering the grave subject matter, a casual tone would seem out of place. Also, when referring to Jim's prior difficulties, Mr. Trano uses the expression: "deep in the hole." This expression usually means "to be heavily in debt" or sometimes, as in this case, "to be in trouble."
