Ted finally comes home late in the evening. His live-in girlfriend, Jamie, is concerned about how much work he's been doing lately.

Jamie: Hey, stranger, you’re home late again.

Ted: I know. I’m sorry, honey. I had to finish that report I was telling you about. The people over at Wabash asked to see it tomorrow.

Jamie: I see. Teddy, this is the second week in a row you’ve been coming home later than 9, and I you’re up and out by 8.

Ted: I know. It’s not going to be like this much longer. You know, once these two accounts are under way, my schedule will be back to normal.

Jamie: You know, maybe you should quit that place. I mean, they haven’t done much for you lately.

Ted: I don’t think it’s the right time for that yet, although I did get an interesting offer from Gleason, which might mean a promotion.

Jamie: Why don’t you take it?

Ted: Well, it’s not official yet. They’re still thinking about it.

Jamie: When they’re done thinking about it. I think you should take it… Anyway, Come on. Let’s go to bed.

There isn't much in this dialogue that we don't know already, except for the bit about an offer from one of Ted's new accounts, Gleason. It is evident that Ted's hard work is not paying off at his present job, and perhaps a change of jobs is exactly the opportunity that Ted needs to get his talents recognized. One thing to notice, at the beginning of the dialogue Jamie says, "hello stranger." This is a friendly greeting that is sometimes used among good friends who haven't seen each other in a long time. In this case Jamie is using it to emphasize that Ted has been spending a lot of time at the office. She is concerned that he is working too hard, and not getting anything for his troubles.
