Sam is sitting at a bar on the ship's upper deck, overlooking the party that Joan is at. Still frustrated by his argument with her earlier that day, he's drinking to forget his troubles.

Sam: I didn’t feel much like dancing.

Sam: That’s my ex-wife.

Bartender: It doesn’t look that way. She seems pretty happy with that guy.

Sam: Thanks. Can I have another Whiskey Sour?

Bartender: Alright. But I’d slow down a bit if I were you, sir. This boat rocks enough on its own, it you know what I mean.

Sam: Just give me another drink, alright.

Sam is still stewing over the argument that he had with Joan earlier that morning. He of course does not go to the party, but he decides to go the bar over-looking the party where he is bothered by the sight of Joan dancing with another man. This inspires him to drink more, which will inevitably lead him to the unfortunate incident in the next dialogue. The bartender's use of the term R & R, refers to his time off work. R & R stands for Rest and Recreation. It was originally a military expression.

サムは相変わらず、朝早くジョアンと言い争いしたことでイライラしています。彼はもちろんパーティには行きませんが、パーティを見渡せるバーへ行くことにしますが、そこでジョアンが他の男性とダンスをしているのを見ておもしろくありません。このため彼は酒をあおり、そして必然的に、次回ダイアログの不幸な事件に至ることになります。バーテンダーが使ったR & Rという言葉は、仕事の休みということです。R & RはRest and Recreationの省略形で、もともとは軍隊用語です。
