Can you tell me something about…は「…について教えてもらえますか」と聞くときのポピュラーな表現です。同じような表現にCan I ask you something?がありますが、こちらは「ちょっとお聞きしたいことがあるんですけど」という意味で、話を切り出す時に単独で使うものです。

It's a shortened form of "around forty," referring to people, usually women, aged around 40.

(「アラウンド・フォーティー」の略なんだけど、40歳前後の人、特に女性のことを言うの。)

アラフォーについて外国人に聞かれたら、こう答えて下さい。refer toは日本語を外国人に説明する時に重宝します。
Ex) Otaku refers to people who are maniac about things like anime characters and video games.
　(「オタク」はアニメキャラクターやゲームなどのマニアのことを言うのです。)

Women of "around 40" are relatively well off and choosy, whether married or unmarried.

(「アラウンド・フォーティー」の女性は結婚していようがしていまいが、比較的裕福で選り好みしがちなの。)

well offは「裕福な」choosyは「選り好みする、好みがうるさい」。

I think they are quite different from the way men of the same age bracket are.

(同じ世代の男性とはかなり違うと思うのよ。)

age bracketは「年齢層」。generationと同義です。
