Dan: Mike, I wanted to ask you about something.
Mike: Alright, sure. What is it?
Dan: Well, you know Sally from work, right?
Mike: The new girl that works in sales? Yeah, kind of. Why?
Dan: I was talking to her the other day, and we seemed to hit it off. I want to ask her out, but I also don’t want to make things uncomfortable at work. What do you think I should do?
Mike: If I were you, I would ask her out. If the two of you did really hit it off the other day, then she will probably be happy that you asked. If she says no, at least you will know now and in a few weeks it will be forgotten. Prolonging things will make it worse.
Dan: Hmmm, yeah, that`s probably the best thing to do, isn’t it? I’ll ask her tomorrow when I see her.

そのまま使える便利なフレーズを覚えましょう。
Yeah, kind of.
「ちょっと、どちらかというと」という程度を表す"kind of"。口語でよく使われます。
ex) I was kind of happy.
（ちょっとハッピーだった）
we seemed to hit it off.
"hit it off"は恋愛だけでなく、ビジネスなどの場面でもよく使われるフレーズです。
ex) They hit it off when they realized they had something in common.
（お互い共通する部分があると分かった彼らは、話が合った）
If I were you, I would ask her out.
仮定法過去。簡単におさらいしておくと、「現在の事実と反対の仮定」ということですね。
Prolonging things will make it worse.
"prolong"に関連して、"procrastinate（ぐずぐず先に延ばす）"も覚えておきましょう。

Dan: こないだそのサリーと話したんだけど、けっこうイイ感じになっちゃったのよ。んで、こんどデートに誘ってみようかと思ってるんだけど、でも、職場の雰囲気が気まずくなるようなことは避けたいんだ。どうすりゃいいんだ、オラは?
Mike: オレだったら誘っちゃうな。もし、こないだ話したときにマジでイイ感じだったんなら、そのサリーって子だって、お前からデートに誘われたら嬉しいだろ。で、もし断わられたら、それはそれとして、数週間後には忘れられるだろ。いちばん良くないのは、なにも行動をおこさないことだな。
Dan: ん〜、だな。ここは誘ってみるのがベストってか? よっしゃ、明日にでもサリーに会ったら誘ってみるよ。
