N: Mum, I can’t believe you’re so lenient on Tyler. If I’d
totalled the car you’d have grounded me, but Tyler just gets
a slap on the wrist.

M: That’s enough out of you, Nick. He’s apologised for the
damage he’s done and he’s promised to pay for the repair work.
I think that’s quite enough.

N: Enough?! Mum, he took the car without asking you then crashed
it through the neighbour’s fence! What if their kids had been
playing in the yard? They would’ve been killed!

M: I said enough out of you Nicholas! Tyler has been through a
rough time in the last few months since breaking up with Cynthia.
He needs our understanding.

N: Understanding, yeah right. You’ve always let him get away with
murder, even when we were kids. I never got this kind of
preferential treatment when I broke up with my girlfriend.

M: Tyler is a delicate boy Nick, you know that.

N: Delicate! He’s nothing more than a mummy’s boy if you ask me!
