J: Jake
M: Maggie
J: Hey, I saw one of your friends at the pub last night Mags.
She was looking very cosy with one of the guys from the band we
went to see.
M: Really? Who was it?
J: You know, what’s-her-name. The one with the long brown hair.
M: Jake, half of my friends have long brown hair. What’s her name?
J: I think it begins with a B. Brenda…Bronwyn…Bev…???
M: I don’t have any friends called Brenda or Bronwyn or Bev.
Was she tall or short?
J: She was pretty short, and thin too. And she was a really good
dancer.
M: Oh! It wasn’t Abby was it?
J: Yeah, that’s the one! Abby. I knew it had a “b” in it
somewhere.
M: Really? And who was she cuddling up to?
J: The guitarist I think.
M: Did he have long blond hair and a tattoo of a rose on his arm?
J: Yeah, that’s the one.
M: That’s Bruce! Abby’s been crazy about him for yonks but it looks
like she’s finally managed to hook up with him! Cool!

だったな。）
"cosy＝cozy"は形容詞で「心の通い合う、心地よい、居心地の良い、
リラックスできる、楽な、便利な、和気あいあいとした」など様々な
意味がある。動詞では「安心させる、居心地よくする、欺く」という
意味。"comfortable", "pleasant", "pleasing"なども同様の意味。
Ex: This is very cosy room.
（とても居心地の良い部屋だな。）
You know, what's-her-name.
（あの〜、なんとかちゃんだよ。）
"what's-her-name"は一つの名詞で「誰かさん、例の女、何とかと
言う人」という意味。相手が男性であれば "what's-his-name"となる。
名前を思い出せない（又は思い出したくない）場合の代用語として
使われる。
Ex: "Did you meet one of my friends yesterday?"
"No, I met your boss, what's-his-name."
「昨日、私の友達に会ったの？」
「違うよ、君の上司だよ。何とかさん。」
Abby's been crazy about him for yonks but it looks like she's finally managed to hook up with him!
（アビーはずっと彼に夢中だけど、ついに何とか彼と良い仲になれた
みたいね！）
"hook up with" はここでは「良い仲になる、（異性と）くっつく、
結婚する」という意味。他には、「つなぐ、接続する、提供する、
手をつなぐ、合流する」などの意味もある。
Ex: Sue has hooked up with Josh.
（スーはジョシュと良い仲だ。）
