Missing Cat
Tania lost her cat a few days ago. It turns out that the cat had gotten stuck in a tree and fire department came and rescued it. Fortunately, the cat had identification tags so they could return it to its rightful owner (Tanya).

F: Excuse me, ma’am, did you by any chance lose a cat?
T: Yes. I lost my cat Vernon a few days ago. I’ve been looking
everywhere for him…Did you find him? Is he okay?
F: He’s just fine. Here.
T: Oh, Vernon! Thank goodness! I was so worried…Thank you very much,
sir, for bringing him back.
F: Well, it’s a good thing the cat had tags. We got a call from the
owner of a house not too far from here saying that a cat was stuck
in his tree. We managed to get the cat down and noticed the
address on its collar and figured you’d probably be missing him.
T: I was. What a silly cat. This is the first time he’s gone missing
like that so I was very worried. Thank you so much.
F: Don’t mention it. Try to keep him away from trees, though, in the
future. He doesn’t seem to like heights much.
T: I will. Thanks again.

"by any chance"は「ひょっとして、もしかして」という意味。その他
"chance"を使ったイディオムには、"Fat chance!"「まず無理だね、
まさか」、"No chance!"「（残念ながら）その見込みはない、無理だね、
まっぴらごめんだ」、"take a chance/take chances"「運に任せて
みる、一か八かやってみる、当たって砕けろ」、"on the off chance"
「（前文を受けて）まずそのようなことはないと思って」などがある。

"just"は様々な意味があるが、この場合「本当に、全く」という意味。
形容詞を強調するために使われる。ここでは、猫が「無事だ」という
ことを強調する。
"just"は他に、「（人、行動、判断などが）正しい、公平な」、
「義にかなった、正義の」、「（価格、要求、賞罰などが）適正な、
正当の、合法の」、「（疑い、怒りなどが）正当な根拠のある」
などの意味もある。
Ex: This project is going to go just fine.
（このプロジェクトは、バッチリうまくいくよ。）
Well, it's a good thing the cat had tags.
（まあ、この猫が、タグを付けていたのは幸運でしたね。）
"be a good thing 〜"は「〜とは運が良い」という意味。"good thing"
には「良いこと、幸運、〜して良かった、警句、良い思い付き、
ぜいたく品、おいしい仕事」という意味がある。
Ex: It's a good thing we managed to get tickets for the Kabuki.
（歌舞伎のチケットが取れて、幸運だった。）
