Ken: Do you wear contacts?
Claire: Sometimes. I wear glasses when I have to see things at a distance, like movies, but I wear contacts to parties…I don’t want to look like a librarian…no disrespect to that occupation, of course.
Ken: Are they disposable?
Claire: Yeah…they’re only good for a day. Well, I try not to wear them longer than 8 hours, though. Otherwise my eyes get dry and itchy.
Ken: I’m actually thinking of changing my contacts…they’re not disposable, I need to wash and rinse them every night…to disposable ones. But I wondered if the kind that you can wear for 2 weeks straight are really harmless.
Claire: Hmm…contact lenses are foreign substances, after all…my idea is, the shorter the time you leave them in your eyes, the better. Unless you have extraordinarily healthy and tough eyes.
Ken: I think I’ll see an eye doctor over the weekend.
Claire: Why don’t you try those color contacts?

（クレアはコンタクトしてるの？）
「コンタクトレンズ」のことは正式にはcontact lensesと言いますが、日常会話ではcontactsと言います。メガネと同様、複数扱いであることに注意。

（遠くのものを見なくちゃいけない時は、たとえば映画を見る時とかはメガネをかけるわ。）

（図書館員の人たちをばかにしているわけじゃないの）
mean no disrespect to…で「…に対して失礼なことを言うつもりはない」という意味ですが、今回はmeanが省略された形での登場です。
disposable
（使い捨て）
私だけかもしれませんが、昔からdisposalとdisposableが混同してしまいます。もう一回整理しましょう。disposalは「廃棄」という意味の名詞で、disposableは「使い捨て」という意味の形容詞です。

（でも、2週間連続装用できるタイプは本当に目にいいんだろうかね。）
この場合のstraightは「連続して」という意味。in a rowと言っても同じです。

（コンタクトも結局異物だからね…）
「異物」には色々な英語がありますが、foreign substanceがいちばんポピュラーな表現のようです。他にもforeign matterやforeign articleなどといった表現があります。
My idea is, the shorter the time you leave them in your eyes, the better.
（私が思うに、目に入れておく時間が短ければ短いほどいいんじゃないかな。）
「私が思うに」と言いたい時にまず思いつくのがI thinkやin my opinionかもしれませんね。では、ボキャブラリーに是非my idea is…を加えてあげてください。「私が想像するに」と言いたいのであれば、my guess is…となりますね。
Ex) My guess is that he'll win.
（想像するに彼は勝つよ。）
