Dialog

Claire and her colleague Ken are talking.

Ken: Ah…my legs! I went to the gym last night, and I think I did too much running.

Claire: Moderation in all things, Ken. How often do you go to the gym?

Ken: Ideally, I want to go three times a week, but the reality is, I work out once a week.

Claire: But what’s good about gym, anyway? My husband has been nagging me to join the sports club he goes to, but personally, I just can’t see why I have to be locked indoors to exercise. I’d rather jog.

Ken: Jogging itself is fine, but if you think of the air pollution and the heavy traffic in urban areas, I’d say gyms provide a lot better environment to work out.

Claire: I see your point, but…

Ken: But one of the funny things at least about my gym is that women go there mainly to socialize. They wear heavy make-up, and what they do is chat away…during the time when they’re supposed to be sweating out.

Claire: I don’t think I can ever be one of them!

Explanations

Moderation in all things.

Moderation in all things.

But what's good about gym, anyway?

What's good about…

My husband has been nagging me to join the sports club he goes to, but personally, I just can't see why I have to be locked indoors to exercise.

nag+人+to…
Ex) She nags about the smallest things.
be locked up (indoors)と言ってもOK。

I'd say gyms provide a lot better environment to work out.

I'd say…

I see your point, but…

What they do is chat away

したがって、talk away(話し続ける)、sleep away(寝続ける)、
drink away(飲み続ける)などとなるわけです。
