Eight-year-old Sally brought her report card home from school. Her marks were good...mostly A's and a couple of B's.

However, her teacher had written across the bottom:"Sally is a smart little girl, but she has one fault. She talks too much in school. I have an idea I am going to try, which I think may break her of the habit."

Sally's dad signed her report card, putting a note on the back:"Please let me know if your idea works on Sally because I would like to try it out on her mother."

8歳のサリーは学校から通知表を持ち帰った。彼女は優秀だった…。ほとんどがAで、Bがふたつみっつ。

けれど教師は最後に、はみ出すほど書いていた。「サリーちゃんは頭のよい子ですが、ひとつだけ欠点があります。学校での彼女はおしゃべりが過ぎます。私は、彼女のこの習慣をやめさせられそうな計画を思いついたのでやってみます」


サリーの父親はこれに対して一筆書いてから、通知表に著名した。 「サリーの母親にも試してみたいので、計画がうまくいったら教えてください」
