You took ages to answer the phone.

(電話に出るのにすごい時間かかったね。)

“to take ages” で「時間がかかる」という意味。“ages”で「長い間」
という意味になる。“to take an age”という言い方もある。
Ex. She always takes ages to put on her makeup.
(彼女は、化粧するのにすごい時間がかかる。)

It's not the end of the world.

(この世の終わりってわけじゃないんだから。)

“It's not the end of the world” で「大したことないよ、この世の
終わりってわけじゃない」という意味。相手が落ち込んでいて、励ま
そうとする時によく使う表現。
Ex. Just because you failed the exam, it's not the end of the
world.
(試験に落ちたからって、それでこの世が終わるわけじゃないでしょ。)

Margot, I told you one teaspoon is enough.

(マーゴ、小さじ1杯で十分だって言ったじゃない。)

“I told you 〜” で「あなたに〜と言いました」という意味。「〜って
言ったでしょ?!」と、怒っている時やイライラしている時によく使う
表現。他にも、 “I told you so”「ほら、言った通りでしょ?」、
“I told you all along”「最初からそう言っているでしょ?」、
“I've told you a thousand times”「何度も言ったでしょ?」という
表現がある。
Ex. I told you to be here by 5:00!
(5時までここに来なさいと言ったでしょ?!)

(それからなぜかマヨネーズが固まらなかった)

“for some reason” で「なぜか、ある理由で、どういうわけか」という
意味。“for some reason or other” という言い方もある。他に“for
some reason that is not clear”「はっきりしない理由で」、“for
some reason unbeknownst to myself”「私には知らない理由で」という
表現もある。
Ex. For some reason, he was promoted to manager of the department.
(どういうわけか、彼は部門のマネジャーに昇進した。)

I think the thought of making them for a restaurant critic just made me panic.

(レストランの評論家のために作ってあげるってことを考えたらパニックになったのかもしれない。)

“the thought of 〜” で「〜ということを考えると」という意味。「〜」
のところにほとんど名詞 “the thought of you”「あなたのことを考える
と」又は「動詞+ing」 “the thought of seeing him”「彼に会うことを
考えると」が入る。
Ex. The thought of you going to Hawaii this summer makes me so
jealous!
(あなたが今年の夏、ハワイに行くことを考えると羨ましくなっちゃう!)
