Dialog

Randy is sitting in the living room in front of the fire. His wife Julia comes in to ask him about their dog.

R: Randy
J: Julia

J: Randy, where’s Satchel?

R: Oh, he had to go to the bathroom, so I let him out a while ago.

J: How long is a while ago?

R: I don’t know. 20…30 minutes ago maybe.

J: 20 or 30 minutes ago! Randy, do you realize it’s 15 below zero
outside?

R: Why do you think I’m sitting in front of the fire?

J: Poor Satchel could freeze in weather like this. What were you
thinking?

R: Relax. He’s a Saint-Bernard. That dog’s like half hair. He can
stand a little cold.

J: Randy, I want you to go and let Satchel in this instant. And if
anything is wrong with him, you’re the one who’s going to drive
him to the vet.

R: Oh, alright fine. If you’re that worried about it, I’ll go let
him in.

J: And you said you were an animal lover.

Explanations

Randy, do you realize it's 15 below zero outside?

“do you know 〜?"「 〜ということを知ってる?」とは
違い、“do you realize 〜?"
ex: Do you realize how long I've been waiting here for you?

That dog's like half hair.

“That dog is
half hair."
ex: Can you like turn down the TV? I can't concentrate.

He can stand a little cold.

ex: I can stand a little criticism.

Randy, I want you to go and let Satchel in this instant.

その他に、“right now", “quick smart",
ex: Do your homework this instant.
