Dave: Honey, will you move a little? I can’t see the TV. You’re in the way.

Claire: Oops, sorry. By the way, I’m thinking of buying a foot bath, but what do you think?

Dave: A foot bath? What exactly do you do with it?

Claire: Oh, honey, it’s called a foot bath because you soak your feet…up to the knees…in it! It’s really good for blood circulation. I found a nice one on the Net, and I thought I might ask you before ordering it.

Dave: You mean you’re going to buy it online?

Claire: Yep. I know you don’t like Net shopping, but it’s so handy. We don’t have to ride all the way to an electric appliance store and spoil our precious weekend…

Dave: I just don’t like the idea of sending our private information via the Net. Those bits of information you transmit often include your credit card info, too, right? Oh no, I can never possibly do that. It’s too dangerous.

Claire: I remember you were worried stiff when you had your first credit card…saying all the bills would pile up without your realizing it. But you now use your cards like paper money, don’t you?

be in the wayは「道をふさいで、邪魔になって」という意味。気をつけなければいけないのはin a wayとの違い。in a wayは「ある意味では」という意味ですね。

ride/go etc. all the way to…は「…までわざわざ車で行く／出向いて行く」という意味。以下のような使い方もできます。
Ex) Thank you for coming all the way.
　（わざわざいらしてくださってありがとう。）
spoilは「台無しにする、無駄にする」という意味。ruinとも似ていますね。
